Review of Interactive Investor

Founded in 1995 and owned by abrdn, Interactive Investor (ii) provides a platform for trading shares, ISA and SIPP savings as well as funds and investment trusts. They have recently had a site revamp that has improved usability. They also offer a range of tools including news and analysis, charts and a fund shortlist called the Super 60. Their ‘quick-start funds’ are designed for beginner investors with different levels of risk. This link :theinvestorscentre.co.uk

The platform is easy to use on desktop computer and mobile. They have a good range of order types and a decent trading app which is comparable to TD Direct’s. However, the browser trader can be a little slow at times and there are some negative online reviews about that – but take those in context as these were posted after a major website upgrade.

Interactive Investor Review: Features, Fees, and Usability

They have a good choice of UK and international investments, as well as a decent number of bonds and gilts, with the option to open multicurrency accounts. They are regulated by the FCA and have a solid track record of customer service. They have a flat-fee model and don’t charge extra transaction or custody fees, but there is a monthly account fee that can add up.

They have some good educational resources, such as jargon busters and investing tutorials, although they don’t offer one-to-one personalised investment support or education for beginners. They have a number of useful tools for research, such as the ability to monitor simple moving averages and a range of drawing and charting tools. They also have a useful tool that analyses fund managers and their performance.
