Northcare Edinburgh to Open in 2022

Scotland is in the midst of a care crisis, with limited lifestyle choices for elderly residents requiring care services. The current stock of care homes and supported housing in Edinburgh is not able to meet future demand for this type of accommodation and requires substantial investment.

The proposed Northcare will provide 76 care suites, each with private kitchen and lounge areas and an ensuite shower room. All suites will be accessible to people with different levels of mobility and are designed to support the provision of high-quality and personalized care.

Northcare Edinburgh will be owned by a family-run business, Northcare (Scotland) Ltd, which owns and operates eight care homes with over 520 beds across Scotland. The company is renowned for its high standard of service and has achieved a number of awards, including the Scottish Care Home Operator of the Year.

Edinburgh Care Homes: What You Need to Know

A spokesman for the company said: “We are delighted to be working with City of Edinburgh Council on this exciting new development at Corstorphine.”

The company added: “The new care home is being constructed to provide a high standard of residential and dementia care, as well as a number of community facilities. These will include a cafe/brasserie, beauty salon and gallery, all of which are intended to offer a ‘day out’ experience without the need to leave the building.”

It is understood that the construction of the new care home is due to begin in 2022.
